My oldest son was surprised to hear that J.D. Salinger fought in World War II. He thinks of Holden Caulfield as a contemporary, a peer, anachronistically making his way through a few days of life. The period references in the novel are like props on a movie set, no more real than the phonies Holden encounters. It’s perplexing that so many of my son’s classmates felt no connection to Holden after reading The Catcher in the Rye this past year. We are told on TV, on the internet and in movies that our teenagers and young adults are increasingly savvy, mature and perceptive. When it comes to technology, they certainly are. But most of students in the class considered Holden a whiny freak without realizing that often, it’s the whiny freaks who walk through life with the clarity of sight and earnestness needed to leave this existence a little better than it was when we entered it. The story itself is a masterpiece. Salinger was firing on all cylinders and tapping into the strange other-worldly literary omnipotence we usually attribute to Shakespeare when he wrote Catcher. It’s interesting to wonder whether he was even aware of everything he was doing in the book or if he was like a pro athelete who enters “the zone” and emerges at the end of the game a puzzled hero. Every time one of Holden’s apologists dies, as his creator did this past week, a piece of Holden dies with them. Fortunately, he is as viral as one of my son’s favorite You Tube videos. When we follow his exploits, Holden’s DNA intertwines with our own and is propagated in everything we say and do. Fortunately, he will never completely die, but will continue to confound those who think him merely a whiny freak. RIP Holden Caulfield. Only Shot At A Good Tombstone

After going through many scales that had different readings, this has got to be the best one yet! Excellent readout, great platform for weighing, and very expensive look and feel, but not expensive on the wallet. I’ve tried many, this one out”weighs” them all by far!!!!!!

My boyfriends mother had given me the money to purchase the Furminator. Her other son has two german sheppards and had highly recommended this product. Great deShedding Tool! My boyfriend has a german sheppard that sheds like crazy. The furminator helps a great deal! I also have a Jack Russell Terrior and it works great on short hair as well. Would highly recommend the Furminator for anyone who has dogs or cats that tend to shed a lot.

Straight out of the box, I had a few issues with this scale. First off, the instructions sticker that it comes with affixed to the glass is very difficult to remove cleanly because of the adhesive that was used. Once I was able to get that off (around 20 minutes of work to clean it off), I tried to use the scale using those instructions — tap on the glass in that area, and then step on once it read 0.00. I couldn’t get it to turn on! It seems that with the one that I received, the only way to turn it on is to whack the top right corner of it very hard with my foot, it will not work by tapping anywhere on the top or bottom half of the scale. Then, I had issues where it told me that I weighed 8 lbs, and would stick at that number. After letting it turn off twice and turning it back on, it is now showing a plausible weight, but I am not sure that I can be certain that it is the correct weight, as it does tend to change from weighing to weighing (even if they are only 5 minutes apart) by up to 2 lbs. It still will not turn on correctly, though. Overall, here is what I am left with:

PROS
- Aesthetically pleasing
- Somewhat easy to operate
- Weight display is very easy to read

CONS
- Sticker is difficult to remove initially
- Would not work straight out-of-the-box
- The weight it shows for me fluctuates from weighing to weighing, leaving me unsure what my weight truly is
- Scales will not turn on following the instructions that are provided

Because of those issues, I truly cannot recommend these scales, at least not without reservations.
Realities by Realities Cosmetics

This was the third (and least expensive) bike seat cover I tried, and I wish I’d tried it first. I have a stationary exercise bike which I must use daily, due to arthritis in my knees, and the seat was so hard, I couldn’t bear more than 10 or 15 minutes per session. With this sheepskin seat cover, I tend to stay on the bike longer than needed, due to the great comfort it provides. The fit is perfect too, thanks to the drawstring. I love it! Best of all, on the rare occasions that my husband also uses the bike, he is just as comfortable as I. I’m very pleased with this purchase, and would highly recommend it to anyone, old or young, looking for a softer seat on their bike.
Sheepskin Bike Seat Cover

This is a great carpet cleaner. I could not believe the color of the water the first time I used it!!! Carpet stayed wet for about 2-4 hours after cleaning. Product is somewhat difficult to set up initially, but once you get the hang of it it’s not bad. Product is a little heavy to use, but works well. Also, it does leak if you forget to lock the handle in place AFTER EACH TIME YOU CHANGE THE WATER. You must remember to push the black button on the underside of the handle. All in all it’s a good carpet cleaner and I would recommend it to others.

Picked up this copy at a used bookstore. Great book. : )The whole book seemed like one big conversation, I didn’t like it too much at first but then it’s what i began to love about it. It was like what at first seemed like flaws, became exactly what made the book great. The use of “goddamn” was weird too (not that i have a problem with cursing…do it a lot) it was used so much…but whenever I hear that word again…I’ll think of Holden Caufield. A wonderful book that has very emotional and true moments that I can relate to, I can’t wait to do my essay on it for school. A wonderful start to a new school year. Thank you so goddamn much, J.D. Salinger.

Retractable USB Cable for

As of today I have not completed this book. So far I have been very disappointed. It is not for children to read as it is so vulgar it disgust me. I am no prude but it seems no sentence is complete with out repeated curse words. Louise
