WeeRide Co-Pilot Trailer Bike and me

Works fairly well. My 7 year old loves riding the Co-pilot. The only issues that I’ve had are with the connections to the main bike. The seat post isn’t secure enough with the quick release and when you take a turn WeeRide Co-Pilot Trailer Bike was also turning the main bike’s seat. Even after tightening the quick release it still moves a small amount. I wish that the connection was smaller and attached to the frame and not to the seat post.

Some quality issues. Overall still an acceptable deal for the money for us, but some problems that could be a bigger problem for the less mechanically-inclined:

Two of the bolt holes on the mounting bracket were partly chromed over so that one bolt head was already stripped by the factory putting it in a little bit and another that wouldn’t go in any further. Smaller diameter replacement bolts with separate nuts solved the problem. The bottom bracket is not quite right. From the factory it didn’t turn easily or smoothly. Loosening it up helped a lot bit it took some effort to get it right. The pedals are cheap and do not turn as freely as I would like. Some of the other bolts are very difficult to adjust or turn at all. The unit is functioning well but it is not a high quality piece of equipment by any measure.

We like it.. I was thinking of getting a Trek, but ordering this from Amazon seemed so much easier.

Had some small battles during setup, weld splatter and paint buildup had to be removed to get the hitch to mate. Swivel joints are very tight at first, but loosen up after use. I had to use my impact screwdriver to loosen the flag holder clamp screws. The tire started coming apart after a week; I had to replace it. Had to really crank the seatpost bolt on the bike to keep it from rotating in the seat tube.

Besides those issues, this thing is great. She loves it. We use it all the time. The swivels/connections are fairly tight compared to other trailer bikes I’ve seen on the bike path. I was going to cut the seatpost down because her legs were a little short, but she manages to do OK as it is.

Don’t go on too long of a trip. She gets tired and will start to lay against the handlebars instead of holding on. And alway check when you start and stop. She’s gotten off when I stopped temporarily without me realizing it. Get a rear view mirror.

The WeeRide web site has this same thing in aluminum for a little bit more money, if I needed another one I would get that one.
